Field Notes in Action

Down By the River

In last month’s Staple Day Newsletter we asked folks to take a photo of any Field Notes Note Book near a river, stream, or creek and tell us about the location. We got a flood of entries and we’ve selected twelve winners and will send them each an “Is a River Alive?” 3-Pack. – Jul. 23rd, 2026

Counting to Fifty

Within a couple weeks, we were up and running. – Aug. 3rd, 2021

Staple Day 33 - The problem of making artists talk about their work is that when they're making their work the left-brain is shut off. So if you talk to an artist about it, you're talking to someone who wasn't there. It's hopeless.

Staple Day 32 - It is a good idea, then, to keep in touch, and I suppose that keeping in touch is what notebooks are all about. And we are all on our own when it comes to keeping those lines open to ourselves: your notebook will never help me nor mine you
